Abstract
This paper explores the growing sector of sports tourism in Uttar Pradesh, highlighting its potential for sustainable growth and development. Sports tourism, an important driver of economic development and cultural exchange, encompasses the active, passive, and indifferent categories. Uttar Pradesh, with its rich cultural heritage and diverse landscape, presents immense opportunities for several types of sports tourism. Major emerging global trends, such as the popularity of adventure sports, the development of e-sports, the integration of wellness tourism, technological advancements, and sustainable practices, are examined for their relevance to the state. The status of sports tourism in Uttar Pradesh has been discussed, with recent government initiatives and policies aimed at infrastructure development and promotion of tourism through public-private partnerships. The paper identifies several challenges and barriers to the development of sports tourism, including inadequate infrastructure, language barriers, and the need for effective marketing strategies.
