Abstract

The word 'Diaspora' was used to refer to the mass dispersion of a population from its indigenous territories, specially the dispersion of Jews. Originally, the term 'Diaspora' has Greek origins ( loosely it means- scattering of seeds) and is used to refer to the mass movement of Jews away from the homeland. In contemporary time, 'Diaspora' refers to the people living away from their homeland due to various reasons. Hence, the meaning of 'Indian Diaspora' is the group of people who are currently living outside India temporary and permanent and those who can trace their origin to India.
