Equity and Inclusion in Indian Higher Education
Abstract
Equity and inclusion are fundamental principles in shaping the future of higher education, particularly in a diverse and dynamic society like India. This abstract explores the current landscape of equity and inclusion within Indian higher education, emphasizing the importance of accessible, fair, and quality education for all, regardless of socio-economic background, gender, caste, disability, or geographic location. It highlights the challenges faced, including systemic barriers, socio-cultural disparities, and institutional biases that perpetuate inequality. The discussion also examines government policies, affirmative action programs, and initiatives by educational institutions aimed at promoting diversity, representation, and inclusive pedagogy.
