Abstract
The modern era is known as the digital age, a time when the lives of young people have been profoundly influenced by the internet, smart phones, social media, online gaming, and artificial intelligence. While digital technology has given a new direction to education, communication, entertainment, and employment opportunities, its excessive and uncontrolled use is also giving rise to various forms of digital-related disruptions among the youth. Individuals affected by digital disruption often lose focus on their primary tasks; consequently, there has been a rise in issues among the youth—such as a lack of concentration, declining academic performance, sleep disturbances, mental stress, anxiety, depression, social isolation, eye problems, obesity, and physical inactivity. Adolescents and young adults are particularly affected, as they spend the majority of their time using digital devices. This research paper sheds light on the causes of digital disruption among the youth, its impact on health, and potential solutions. Various studies indicate that if digital technology is used in a balanced and responsible manner, it proves to be a boon; otherwise, it can turn out to be a curse.
